Welcome to the Relationship Therapy Center! My name is Christin Estes and I am an Associate Marriage Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor working under the guidance of licensed professionals. I also have my credential as a school psychologist where I have supported elementary through high school age students with diverse and specialized needs continue to learn, grow, and thrive academically, emotionally, and socially in the school environment.
Child Play Therapy uses art, play, sand tray and games to help the child speak their language and share with the therapist what is happening in their world. Once rapport has been established, we continue with some of these tools to address social and behavioral issues, learn to process feelings such as anxiety or grief and learn new coping skills. Usually, children get the help they need rather quickly in therapy.
Teen Therapy can be helpful with challenges such as depression and anxiety, social pressures, life transitions and family dynamics that might not be working. Since the pandemic, our teens have faced a lot more mental health issues and getting them into therapy can help put their life on a good trajectory moving forward.
I knew I wanted to be a therapist early on as I have a strong interest in helping support others as they learn more about themselves. I am a firm believer that we are lifelong learners where we can continue to discover and grow throughout our lives. My graduate program at Saint Mary’s College of California highlighted that clients are the experts in their own lives and as your therapist it is an absolute honor to be a part of your journey of discovering, healing, and growth.
Couple counseling and relationship counseling can be so helpful. Many of us did not learn how to have healthy communication or to have conflict that is also respectful. Both partners bring different backgrounds and expectations into a relationship so there is bound to be difficulties. John Gottman states that over 65% of arguments are perpetual…there will always be differences, but it’s how we discuss and approach those difference that make all the difference. I have been trained in Gottman Method Couples Counseling so whether you want to feel closer to your partner and increase intimacy, resolve conflict, learn good communication or recover from an affair, I can help.
I focus on supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, and navigating life transitions and challenges. I help couples get on the same page or rekindle the love and connection they crave. I believe that counseling is a safe space to process your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and experiences and both learn and utilize tools to use in your life. Counseling is also a great space to explore, highlight, and utilize your strengths as you continue to learn more about yourself. It is through this self-discovery process that promotes healing, growth, and connection.
